Earth Station Alpha Concept Plan & Feasibility Study

Home / Architecture / Earth Station Alpha Concept Plan & Feasibility Study

Earth Station Alpha is a plan for the strategic development of NASA's Stennis Space Center near Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. The 137,000 acre site includes 18 federal agencies including NASA, Navy, Environmental Protection Agency, U.S. Geodetic Survey, and other public and private environmental organizations. The plan outlines the feasibility for the development of a multi-disciplinary nexus of environmental research and educational activities including an "Eco-Sphere" educational center, environmental learning park, global resources management center, and an environmental industrial center. The master planning component is a model for appropriate environmental planning using remote sensing technology and principles of sustainable environmental development.
