Planned within a proposed 18 acre riverfront park, the 32,000 square foot Insectarium Museum was designed to accommodate exhibits describing insects of the world; an outside botanical garden; an underground exhibition gallery filled with hands-on educational displays; and a sky-lit greenhouse filled with living butterflies. The design also includes a cafe' and gift shop along with a circular plaza with a Coast Guard navigation aid tower that was designed in collaboration with a team of local and national visual artists. Located at the foot of Esplanade Avenue at the Mississippi River in New Orleans, the project was developed in association with The Mathes Group.
