The Bakery building, originally constructed in 1920, is located in New Orleans' historic Warehouse District, an area of the city that underwent dramatic changes from its earlier industrial use to a neighborhood of residential apartments, restaurants, professional offices and art galleries. The building renovation transformed its former use as Consumer's Biscuit Company into a collection of seventy-two apartments with a large sunlit central atrium, cabanna and pool. The atrium is defined by a series of angular bay windows which look to the west for afternoon sunshine. The original ovens were converted by Concordia into spacious and uniquely detailed penthouse apartments.
Hello,
I am 17 years old and I am headed for college this fall to Lehigh University to study architecture to pursue my hopes of becoming an architect. This spring I went to visit New Orleans and I work with non-profit organization called Common Group located at the Lower 9th ward for a couple of days. During my stay I learned the "Make it right" initiative and I was very impressed with the house that were getting built. Today I looked at this site and some of the work and I am really inspired. I am really anxious to become apart of the world of architecture design and planning. Thank You
