HAYWARD UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Hayward Unified School District (HUSD) encompasses 33 school sites (24 elementary, 5 middle schools and 4 high schools). Concordia was engaged by the HUSD to develop a community based vision for programming and design of Hayward schools in the context of the total community environment. As part of the process, Concordia assisted the HUSD in organizing a 100 member Steering Committee who worked intensively to learn from local experience and national experts the potential uses of school facilities that could have the biggest impact on student learning; support a healthy and ongoing connection between schools and this region’s growing economy; and tap into the enormous value that parents, community groups, businesses, and service organizations can have on the educational experience of students.
