Ray Zabala III graduated from Louisiana Tech University in 2003 earning a Bachelor’s of Architecture degree. In his fifth year design studio, Ray, along with three other students, secured funding, designed, documented, and built “The Cynthia Price Bridge” in Dubach Louisiana as their final design/build project. This project was significant because it offered a chance to apply a wide array of architectural skills that had been learned in school.
Ray began his professional career in the New Orleans area in residential architecture followed by light commercial and educational facilities. His architectural experience includes participation in the design and production of several shopping centers, schools, and miscellaneous repair and renovation projects. After Hurricane Katrina, Ray’s primary focus was the repair and rehabilitation of several St. Bernard Parish Schools. This opportunity to rebuild better and smarter peaked his interests in community participation and sustainable design practices.
Current projects include renovations to the Ashé Cultural Arts Center in New Orleans and concept design for new administrative offices for Jefferson Parish’s Department of Economic Development.
