Joel Ross, Intern Architect

Home / People / Joel Ross, Intern Architect

Joel Ross came to New Orleans in 2001 to begin his studies at the Tulane School of Architecture. After graduating with a Master of Architecture in 2006 he was thrown into the “wild-west” that is post-Katrina New Orleans. He spent a year working a myriad of freelance jobs doing everything from real estate development, starting a prefabricated housing company, writing columns for the Times-Picayune, to T-shirt and graphic design. In August of 2007, Concordia Architects and Planners took a chance on a small town boy from Missouri and have been reaping the benefits ever since.

He specializes in nothing and takes a holistic approach to architecture. He is interested in the contextual landscape of Louisiana and New Orleans and hopes to create modern built forms that enrich and harmonize the natural and man-made landscape. His future plans include licensure, academia, and New Orleans.

He is originally from St. Louis, MO and will one day canoe down the Mississippi from St. Louis to New Orleans. He likes to read Mark Twain letters and blogs.
