Asante Salaam, Community Engagement

Through Concordia, Asante Salaam manages community community engagement for the firm’s wide range of architecture and planning projects. Projects include Lagniappe Project New Orleans’ charter school development; Next New Orleans, an assessment of neighborhoods for Nexus/clustered services urban development; and Emeryville Center of Community Life’s comprehensive integrated urban planning and community development.

Asante also provides expertise in the development of arts, culture, education, branding and entrepreneurial initiatives. Her previous endeavors include creative brand direction, transforming a franchise coffee shop into a $250k new concept cafe; program development, creating integrated arts programming for neighborhood youth through two non-profit community organizations; and visual artwork production, creating a commissioned five-piece mixed-media sculpture installation utilizing doorsills salvaged from post-levee-break New Orleans houses.

Asante’s foundation as a native New Orleanian and lifelong visual artist inform her commitment to revitalizing the culturally rich, internationally appreciated city of New Orleans. She travels globally and has lived in multiple cities around the United States. Asante’s work is guided by a personal and professional mission to help make life and the world better and more beautiful for all.
